Diagnostic services
Accurate and complete for targeted treatment plans

Correct breast disease diagnosis from the beginning is the key to the most effective treatment. Namarak Hospital provides diagnostic services using cutting-edge technology and a team of specialized doctors to confirm the type of disease, plan treatment, reduce the risk of misdiagnosis, and accurately identify the type of disease, leading to individualized treatment.

Biopsy: A crucial step before beginning breast cancer treatment

When an abnormality is detected on a mammogram or ultrasound, your doctor will assess your risk (eg, BIRADS 4-5) and recommend a biopsy for pathological examination to confirm cancer and identify the cell type and molecular characteristics to develop a personalized treatment plan.

Biopsy

Increase the accuracy of biopsy with

  • Ultrasound-Guided CNB: A lump that is clearly visible on ultrasound is performed under local anesthesia, with a small incision and no need for surgery.

  • Stereotactic Biopsy Vacuum-Assisted Biopsy (VAB) If a biopsy is required to remove plaques or lesions that are not visible on ultrasound, a conventional core needle is not recommended as it may not yield enough tissue, resulting in repeated biopsies, increased costs, and unnecessary patient stress.

Comparison of Core Needle Biopsy and Vacuum-Assisted Biopsy

  • Core Needle Biopsy (CNB) is a 3–5 mm incision. The needle can cut one piece of tissue at a time. It is cut at least 5–6 times to obtain enough tissue for diagnosis. Accuracy is more than 95–98% depending on the number of pieces cut and the expertise of the doctor who cuts the tissue.

  • Vacuum-Assisted Biopsy (VAB) uses a 3–5 mm incision and is a vacuum-assisted needle with an automatic cutting system that cuts multiple pieces of tissue in a single puncture, yielding a larger volume of tissue with 99–100% accuracy. It is suitable for calcifications and small lesions that are only seen on mammograms. A small titanium clip is placed after the biopsy to accurately identify the lump in case of subsequent surgery or for use in radiological and treatment follow-up.

Service access procedures

  1. In the case of service recipients who come for screening at Namarak Hospital, a biopsy can be performed on the same day or at a convenient time for the recipient after the surgeon has examined and recommended treatment options.

  2. For those who bring results from outside, make an appointment with a surgeon for a mammogram and ultrasound to confirm the diagnosis and indications and necessity before scheduling a biopsy.

  3. Before performing a biopsy, the hospital will assess the risk of abnormal bleeding by answering a risk screening questionnaire and performing laboratory tests to check for abnormalities in blood counts and blood clotting. Caution for those taking blood thinning medications, vitamin E, and fish oil (FISH oil). It is recommended that you stop taking them at least 7 days before the biopsy.

  4. After the biopsy, the hospital will call to follow up on your symptoms by a nurse the next day and make an appointment to see the doctor to check the wound and the biopsy results approximately 3-5 days after the biopsy.

Approximate service fee

  • Fine needle aspiration (FNA) is used to aspirate cells for examination in conjunction with ultrasound.

    • The service fee including the meat piece is approximately 11,000-13,000 baht per point.

  • Ultrasound Guided Core Biopsy

    • The service fee including the meat piece is approximately 25,000-29,000 baht per point.

  • Stereotactic Vacuum Core Biopsy

    • The service fee includes the cost of the tissue approximately 63,000-69,000 baht per point. The service fee includes the Titanium marker.

Cycle time

Laboratory examination time for blood counts and blood clotting is approximately 1 hour.

Biopsy takes about 1 hour.

The biopsy report will be received in approximately 3 business days.

Things to prepare before coming to the hospital

  • Previous medical history (if any)

  • Mammography and ultrasound results, including reports and images recorded in medical image CD format (PACs system)

2nd Opinion Service

It is a “second opinion” service from a team of doctors who specialize in breast cancer.

🩺This service is suitable for those who have previously received a diagnosis or treatment plan from another source and would like additional opinions to help them make a decision.

What does this service help with?

  • Confirm the diagnosis: Verify the accuracy of the diagnostic results.

  • Evaluate the treatment plan: The medical team will help determine whether the original treatment plan is appropriate and whether there are other options that would be more beneficial to the patient.

  • Build confidence: Help patients and families feel confident and free from doubt before deciding to proceed with the treatment process.

Precision Investigation Services

Thorough and accurate diagnosis using modern medical technology to identify the specific type and stage of cancer is essential for planning personalized treatment (Personalized Medicine).

What does this process cover?

  • Advanced Technology: Use tools that provide clear and highly accurate results, such as digital mammograms, high-resolution ultrasounds, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

  • Biopsy: A sample of tissue is taken for pathological examination by a team of specialized pathologists to accurately identify the type of cancer cells.

  • Genetic Testing: In some cases, cancer gene testing (Genomic Testing) may be performed. Somatic Mutation: Specific mutations in cancer cells, such as PIK3CA, ESR1, TP53, can be used to precisely define targeted drugs and individual treatment plans to assess response to certain drugs, enabling the selection of the most effective targeted therapy and reducing unnecessary side effects.

  • Analyze genetic code to find molecular abnormalities associated with cancer. Germline Mutation: Inherited mutations such as BRCA1/2 that affect cancer risk and family care.
