Sentinel node can decrease risk of arm swelling in breast cancer surgery

What is nipple-sparing mastectomy? Nipple-sparing mastectomy removes the breast tissue while preserving the skin and nipple, combined with intraoperative radiation to the nipple area for safety. It suits patients who need mastectomy but want the most natural appearance, often with reconstruction. Nipple-Sparing Mastectomy with Intraoperative Radiation Therapy (IORT Nipple) Assoc. Prof. Youwanush Kongdan, M.D. Nipple-Sparing Mastectomy (NSM) is a surgical technique that

Breast-Conserving Surgery with Radiation Therapy By Assoc. Prof. Youwanush Kongdan, M.D. and Paweena Luadthai, M.D. Historical Perspective In the past, breast cancer surgery often involved removing the entire breast (mastectomy), with reconstruction considered only in later stages. Over time, breast-conserving surgery (BCS) emerged as an alternative, where the visible cancer or abnormalities detected in mammograms or ultrasounds are removed. This approach is followed by whole

What is vacuum-assisted breast lump surgery (VABB)? Vacuum-assisted breast biopsy/excision (VABB) removes small breast lumps through a tiny incision using a vacuum-powered probe under image guidance. It is minimally invasive, leaves a very small scar, and is suitable for selected benign or small lesions. Vacuum-assisted excision (VAE) is an innovative non-invasive treatment option developed as an alternative for the treatment of certain breast tumors. Details on the efficacy,
