Patient Rights and Responsibilities
Namarak Breast Specialty Hospital is committed to caring for every patient with respect for their dignity, rights, and privacy. We follow the Declaration of Patient Rights and Responsibilities so that patients and families receive complete information and can take part in decisions about their own care.
The 10 Patient Rights
Under Thailand's Declaration of Patient Rights and Responsibilities B.E. 2558 (2015), every patient has the following rights:
1. Every patient has human dignity and the fundamental right to receive medical treatment and health care in accordance with professional standards, without discrimination.
2. A patient seeking treatment has the right to receive truthful and sufficient information about their illness, examination, treatment, and the benefits and risks of treatment, from the health professional, in language the patient can easily understand, so that the patient can choose whether or not to consent to the treatment — except in emergencies or cases of necessity.
3. A patient in a life-threatening condition has the right to receive prompt emergency assistance from health professionals as necessary, regardless of whether the patient requests help.
4. A patient has the right to know the name, surname, and profession of the health professional providing their care.
5. A patient has the right to seek a second opinion from another health professional who is not providing their care, and the right to change health professional or facility, in accordance with the rules of the patient's healthcare benefits.
6. A patient has the right to confidentiality of their personal information, except with the patient's consent, or where disclosure is part of the health professional's duty for the direct benefit of the patient, or as required by law.
7. A patient has the right to receive complete information before deciding to participate in, or withdraw from, any research conducted by health professionals.
8. A patient has the right to access information about their own treatment as recorded in their medical record upon request, provided that this does not violate the rights or personal information of others.
9. A parent, guardian, or legal representative may exercise rights on behalf of a patient who is a child under 18 years of age, or who has a physical or mental impairment and is unable to exercise those rights independently.
10. A patient has the right to receive medical treatment and health care according to appropriate professional standards, without discrimination, as stated in this declaration.
